This library is rich with information about local history. Their collection includes information about Boone County, local families, the Underground Railroad, and Big Bone Springs Community.

Additionally the library’s collection includes personal letters and diaries, church records, research from local historians, digital photographs of families, events, buildings, and donated family files, county records and cemetery transcriptions.

The Chronicles of Boone County is a site maintained by the library and houses a repository of historical information.

William T. Young Library

This University of Kentucky library houses newspapers from many of the counties in Kentucky, including the Boone County Recorder.

Societies

The Boone County Historical Society meets at the Main Library, Burlington Pike on the third Thursday of odd-numbered months at 7:00 PM. They have a website with links to 65 documents regarding history in Boone County.
